Buy the Alarm System

I wish that my mom made one very big investment and was able to save $200 per month for at least one year.  She was willing to work odd jobs and pick up as many shifts as she could while attending college.  Nonetheless, she did not have the financial resources to save for the installation of the Alarm System.  The issue was not the monthly fee, but the cost of the installation. 

During the early 1980’s the installation cost for a new Alarm System was a deterrent for homeowners to make such a major purchase.  Home security is a necessity that is overlooked due to the associated cost and maintenance for a premium system.  Break-ins were a normal occurrence in most inner cities, especially in areas like Detroit, Michigan. 

Crime is not something to take lightly, but in some areas crime is worst than others.  In Detroit, families that are comprised of both a husband and wife may not be dual earners that could have afforded an Alarm System in the 1980’s.  As a result, break-ins caused panic and insecurities amongst homeowners.

Individuals that were fortunate enough to qualify to get into a home often do not have the resources to upkeep the home; therefore, the entire community can be impacted, and crime can increase due to the distressed state of that community.  Neighborhoods that can often improve the quality of like for the residents in that area, thrive better and provide more stability for the American household regardless if the family is from America or not.

Alarm Systems are something that takes time and much research to identify the best functions suitable for that family or that persons lifestyle.  Single or married, this necessity should always be part of the investment of homeownership.  A strong system should be able to detect the wind and air pressures that can impact that property.  One of the most secure buildings in Michigan used to be the Uptown Palladium Movie Theatre and a Housing Development located outside of the Tiger Stadium on Woodward Ave.

When I was looking into purchasing my first and only true residence, I did extensive research, and I fell in love with the security features of the condo located outside of Tiger Stadium.  It had premium security at its finest.  This was a security professionals dream.  The system was touchscreen, and loaded with premium features that no one in traditional residence’s usually wanted to pay the upgraded charges for. 

It was more secure than some government buildings, so I loved the tour that I was given.  I can’t remember why I focused on purchasing an alternate property about 3 miles away.  Nonetheless, I am sure the property was so secure because of its proximity towards the Tiger Stadium.  There was a rooftop terrace that allowed the owners to see the Tiger games for free, and it was a beautiful area.

The home I ultimately purchased had some nice security features, but I did not need an alarm system.  As a security professional, I did not have any safety issues.  There were multiple entrance points, but a thief would not be able to access my unit without going through multiple areas of security.  I learned a valuable lesson in my purchase that sometimes things are not a secure as they seem, as the loft association still could legally gain access to my former place and owners could not prevent that process.

I strongly recommend that all individuals that own homes make the investment to buy the Alarm System no matter what the statistics are for the FBI Crime Index or their local Police force.  This is a costly but priceless expense that is a necessity.  No matter what your budget is, or your monthly income, try to Buy the Alarm System regardless of the sacrifice it may have on impacting your budget. 

If my mother would have been financially in a position to come up with the money to pay for the installation of an Alarm System my childhood would have been drastically different.  She would not have had to get re-married or forced to depend on men to help her instead of just working with trained security professionals that would have ensured that her property remained safe and protected.  Sometimes people are forced to make decisions under duress no matter how unpractical their decision is.  Therefore, take time and make the investment to Buy the Alarm System.
